What is a short circuit?
Bij kortsluiting zoekt de stroom een kortere weg dan bedoeld, bijvoorbeeld doordat twee draden elkaar raken. De stroom wordt dan heel hoog. Een automaat in de meterkast schakelt uit om oververhitting te voorkomen.
In a short circuit the current finds a shorter path than intended, for example because two wires touch. The current then becomes very high. A circuit breaker in the meter cupboard switches off to prevent overheating.

What is the safe approach?
- Schakel apparaten uit en trek de stekkers uit de stopcontacten van de getroffen groep.
- Zet de automaat hooguit één keer terug. Valt hij direct weer uit, laat hem dan uit.
- Raak beschadigde kabels, stekkers of stopcontacten niet aan.
- Bij rook of vuur: verlaat de woning en bel 112.
- Bel een elektricien om de oorzaak op te sporen en te herstellen.
- Switch off appliances and unplug everything on the affected circuit.
- Switch the breaker back on once at most. If it trips again straight away, leave it off.
- Do not touch damaged cables, plugs or sockets.
- In case of smoke or fire: leave the home and call 112.
- Call an electrician to trace and repair the cause.

- Moisture in a socket, lamp or appliance
- Old or worn wiring, see replacing old wiring
- A loose wire in a socket or junction box

Bij een storing rekenen wij een uurtarief, inclusief btw en voorrijkosten: overdag (tot 18:00) € 120 voor het eerste uur, in de avond (18:00 tot 00:00) € 135 en 's nachts en in het weekend € 145. Het eerste uur wordt altijd volledig berekend. Daarna rekenen wij per kwartier: € 25,00 overdag, € 27,50 in de avond en € 30,00 's nachts en in het weekend. For a fault we charge an hourly rate, including VAT and call-out costs: during the day (until 18:00) € 120 for the first hour, in the evening (18:00 to 00:00) € 135 and at night and on weekends € 145. The first hour is always charged in full. After that we charge per quarter hour: € 25,00 by day, € 27,50 in the evening and € 30,00 at night and on weekends.
